the adhesive seems very strong, the material is about 3mm thick and it looks like woven matting with aluminium.
good stuff apparently

well iv been checking mine every two weeks when im in doin the oil checks and stuff. i noted this as any area of concern when i fitted the manifold as its a plastic item with a sort of foam trim. didnt look very friendly to a 600-800°C manifold.
i havent yet seen any heat damage to the steering rack cover thing, i can see mine cleary al as ive removed the top heat sheild aswell.

strange wonder why mine was getting it so bad
its been on for nearly two years maybe its just happened over time, i do alot of 3 plus hour trips at weekends so it has time to get proper hot.

do you not do track days aswell al? that would definately get the manifold into the high temps for long periods.

nope never done any track days, only a few laps of he ring last year..
as i say theres not many of my journeys that are under half hour and put it this way the exhaust would get quite hot even in that time
might just have been mine but just seems strange so thought i would warn everyone just incase.

I've not seen any problems like the original pics. The down pipes are still relatively shiney.
The only problem I've had is that the (original) cat developed a rather large hole on Monday - it looked quite sorry compaired to the rest of the exhuast.

With regards to heat wrap, I had heard that the non-metallic form of this wrap could over time corrode the metal it was surrounding after being exposed to water. You can get your 4-2-1 manifold and system coated in a permanent hardened ceramic substance via a company up north, comes with different kind of finishes. I was thinking of having this done before I had my 4-2-1 and system fitted.
